Wallpapers
These are all the wallpapers that rotate on my desktop. They're all things I like.
If you want to use one yourself, you can click on it to get the full resolution image.
The Wallpaper Philosophy
Wallpapers I technically edited
These are wallpapers I cropped or threw together in Photoshop since I wasn't happy with existing wallpapers.
Armored Core 6
This was a 4K wallpaper that I cropped down to fit my 1440p screen. You can see the 4K version here. I have bigger monitors now, but there's a lot of empty black in the 4K original, so I still use the crop.
Digital Devil Saga
I took the covers for the first & second games and tried to blend them together. I think I did an okay job.
Final Fantasy IV
A long time ago I did a wallpaper combining every piece of logo art for FFIV, and years later I decided to redo it. You can find the old version here.
Final Fantasy V
A much less impressive edit of the FFV logo. These aren't even hard to do. Someone already made vector logos years ago.
Final Fantasy VII
FFVII wallpapers have been dominated by the remake trilogy, which I found unacceptable, so I made my own. See also: This sick collection of OG VII backgrounds.
Heavy is Dead
My favorite frame from the classic video. The most editing I did here was scrub out the Soldier.
Legend of Grimrock II
I don't think I edited this very much? Likely just a downscale for my monitor. Theoretically bigger key art exists somehwere but it's not publicly available. Trust me, I dug deep.
Sunstone
This is cropped splash art from Vol. 5, pages 240-241. Here's the full page.
Wallpapers I didn't make
These are wallpapers I took from random places on the internet.
Alien vs Predator
Alien vs Predator is best consumed in comic book form. Though the Monolith game is pretty cool too.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Candice the Ghost
This is a character illustrated for Seether's 2007 album Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces. This particular art is part of a fold-out in the album itself, and was illustrated by David Ho. Candice was also used on the Infected Mushroom album Vicious Delicious.
Catherine
I have a soft spot for Catherine despite its not-great portrayal of a trans woman. The original game is less problematic than Full Body, but this is the better wallpaper.
Command & Conquer
Cowboy Bebop
Dark Souls
Death Stranding
Deus Ex
The first one is the best one, but the Jensen games have the better wallpapers.
Devil May Cry V
Doom
Specifically Doom Eternal, but I like most of Doom.
Dragon Quest XI
Still the best old-school RPG on the market, and currently the only Dragon Quest I really love.
Fullmetal Alchemist
Ghost in the Shell
If you want a physical version of this movie, get the 4K Blu-Ray. It comes with a regular Blu-Ray, and the regular 25th Anniversary Blu-Ray has sound issues. Or get the DVD. I'm not a cop.
Green Arrow
Admittedly I need to engage more with Green Arrow. I tried reading one written by Kevin Smith and it kinda sucked, and I was down for the CW show right up until season 3. He was my main in Injustice but nobody should play Injustice.
Half Life
Ikaruga
Kingdom Hearts
This was the wallpaper that got me to start a rotation folder.
Hatsune Miku
Specifically the Miku from the music video Love is War.
Megurine Luka
This is one of the loading screens from Project Diva F 2nd; the best game on PS3 and PSVita.
Metal Gear Solid
I think this is a crop of a fan-made 80s style movie poster. I didn't crop it though.
Metroid
Naruto
Return of the Obra Dinn
Opus Magnum
Paprika
Persona 5
This one is pretty clearly upscaled. Definitely wanna replace it with a better one sometime.
Portal
I like Portal 2 more than the first one, but I really wanted the test chamber hazards wallpaper.
Star Wars: Republic Commando
Shin Megami Tensei V
This one is kinda grainy. Also due for a replacement, especially with Vengance out.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Strong Badia
I vaguely remember editing this one but I have no idea what I did.
Titanfall II
Tomb Raider
Like FFVII, Tomb Radier wallpapers have been co-opted by the terrible 2010s reboot. I think this is promo art for Legend or Underworld.
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
FAQ
What's your monitor resolution?
I have three monitors. My left is 2560x1440, my right is 3840x2160, and my main center is an ultrawide 3440x1440
How do you deal with multiple resolutions?
Surprisingly they seem to resolve themselves. So long as you have them set to fill instead of stretch, nothing looks particularly off.
How do you have so many? Do you switch them manually every time?
lol, no. In Windows (and I assume other OSes) you can set your wallpaper to a slideshow and pick a folder to pull pictures from. Mine is set to change every minute. And on Windows, it's a different wallpaper on every monitor.
